Akata no Miruku Unke

Akata no Miruku Unke is an yearly traditional event, which takes place around Akata, a part of a former castsle town Shuri in Naha City. Miruku is Okinawan dialect for Miroku (弥勒: Maitreya). At this event, Miruku and a music band parade the area. Miruku holds a big fan and it is believed that that fan brings people good health and happiness. In order to receive its blessing, people line up on the both side of the street. After the parade, people gathered at a local community center, Akata Club and they enjoy a variety of entertainment performed by locals.
