I travelled to Okinawa with my family at the end of January 2020. It was amazing because the weather was cool and we got to enjoy the start of cherry blossom season. We rented a car for the entire trip and visited Nago Pineapple Park, Kouri Island, Todoroki Waterfall, Churaumi Aquarium, Bise Fukugi Tree Road, Cape Manzamo, Mt. Yaedake, Mihama American Village, and Naha Kokusai Dori Shopping Street.
This is my first time shooting and editing a video, and I had fun learning, discovering and reminiscing my holiday. I filmed this entirely with the DJI Osmo Pocket, which landed in my hands with such hilarious serendipity that I took it as a sign from the universe to start my Youtube channel. I had to overlay a lot of scenes with music as my family can get pretty chatty. We are a mixed bunch – my parents and uncle are South Korean, my brother and I are half Singaporean-Chinese/half Korean, and my husband is Singaporean-Chinese. So the old folks converse in Korean; my husband, brother and I converse mainly in Singlish; and then my husband and brother like to throw in smatterings of Hokkien. It’s like a babble madhouse when we are together, so the original audio would have been too distracting. In any case, I hope this video brings you joy, inspiration and wanderlust.
