1897. With the introduction of Eudermine- affectionately nicknamed “Shiseido’s Red Water”—we entered the world of cosmetics. The formula was based on the research of Dr. Nagayoshi Nagai of Tokyo Imperial University, who had studied at Berlin University. Over a century later, we continue to pioneer science-based, high-quality skincare.
資生堂がつくった初の化粧品「オイデルミン」は「資生堂の赤い水」という愛称で親しまれました。「オイデルミン」の処方は、ベルリン大学に留学経験のある当時の東京帝国大学教授長井長義博士の研究にもとづくものでした。目指したのは、こうした科学的手法を用いて高品質な化粧品を開発すること。それまで数々の調合薬を生み出してきた資生堂ならではの発想です。
