Made into a Doll – Nagoro “Scarecrow Village” Japan – Wild Shikoku: We are greeted with steep forested mountains and wonderful winding roads. Typhoons and rain are a constant factor and in a huge downpour we are lucky to find shelter at a local fire station. A long, memorable climb of 1500m in altitude takes us deep into the wild heart of the Island. Completely out of the blue we stumble upon a village inhabited by hundreds of dolls. Nagoro’s human villagers are slowly fading away leaving a fairytale scene of life they imagined. A siren sends out a distress signal during nightfall and we hurry to find another place to shelter from the elements…
