Tochigi City is known for historic cityscape with classical storehouses called “Kura” built along the Uzuma River. In summer, the area stretching 800m (875yd) along the river is illuminated by 123 chic “Andon” #paperlanterns that display the artworks of famous “Kirie” (paper cutout) artists.
Uzuma River Lantern Festival is being held from June 1 through August 31, 19:00-22:00.
