▼Chichibu-jinja Shrine Oniyarai

It is a Setsubun event that is familiar with bean-throwing. The shrine parishioners and worshippers visit early in the morning to ward off evil. From around 10 AM to around 3 PM, New Year men throw beans about every 1 hour, and a fukujin-mai dance is performed in the kagura hall. After that, Mr. Daikoku is planning to throw beans and hold a lottery, so why don’t you try your luck?
From around 6 PM local amateur sumo wrestlers dedicate in front of the shrine building, and the festival starts around 7:30 PM at the shrine building. Traditional Shinto rituals are performed such as Hohei no gi (the ceremony of offering a wand with hemp and paper streamers to a Shinto god), Mamame no gi (the ceremony of throwing beans) and Hikime no gi (the ceremony of drawing eyes), and finally fukujin-mai (the dance of the gods of good fortune) is performed.
