Looks better on TV, maybe.
Re-uploaded from Vimeo so I can shamelessly self promote.
A travel “documentary” (more of a piss poor highlight, really). Scammed by a dear friend into having one of the best trips in my life.
Initially, I wanted to make a run of the mill landscape travelling video, but after reviewing my footage, I realized that its not the nature nor the landscape that stood out from the trip but rather Japan as a whole. The Japanese culture is a culture of conflicting extremes. It is the vapor and the condensation of its history and its people. A place driven so hard to work that it needs to drive itself harder to find peace. A place that strives so hard for honor, purity and perfection, that its willing to embrace the most basic human instinct to just keep their sanity. A culture that stresses itself on history and tradition yet unafraid to leap forward. And then there are the people caught in between.
I hope this short assortment of colors and noise is able to convey how I feel. Thanks.
Music is from a travelling street performer, Soul-deshita, I hope hes still out there jamming.
