In the Edo period(1603 – 1868), the Edo Shogunate ordered that an Edo great fire extinguishing organization be created, and the 5th generation lord of the Kaga Han(Domain), Tsunori Maeda, created a fire brigade scaled up in the Edo Hongo Kamishiki. called the organization Kaga Tobi.

Kaga flying ladder climbing(Kaga Tobi) is designated as an intangible folk cultural asset in Ishikawa Prefecture. In Kanazawa City, Kanazawa Children’s Kaga Tobi Classes are held for 4th to 6th graders as a place to learn the history and skills of climbing Kaga.
