The Japanese fishing village of Bikuni in Hokkaido, Japan, holds an annual festival in July to pray for a big catch, the safety at sea and the well-being of the village. The highlight of this three day long festival are the fire walks, performed by the mythical creature Tengu, followed by groups carrying portable shrines. The fire walks are considered a Shintoist purifying ritual. The footage in this film was shot in July, 2017.
