After some delay with our flight to Sapporo we reached the Chitose Airport late in the afternoon. We picked up the Mobile Home (or campervan) and drove out of the Sapporo-Chitose district.
We found a pace in Mikasa to stay overnight. It was just a parking lot with ‘happy’ toilets and a small supermarket. It was a nice place to stay.
After breakfast we continued to our first destination on Hokkaido: the Daisetsuzan National Park. The lady in the visitor center advised us to climb the Mount Kurodake. The wetter was fine and we were early enough to do so. We took the Daisetsuzan Ropeway and the Daisetsuzan Chairlift to save some time. On the top of the Mount Kurodake the view was fantastic. We enjoyed some time on the top. Of course Harry had to make one of his favorite planks.
In the evening we visited the Sounkyo Miracle Illuminated. It was very cold and not so spectacular as we had hoped for.
