JR Central to introduce new Tokaido Shinkansen train model in 2029

TOKYO – Central Japan Railway Co. said Friday it will introduce the new Tokaido Shinkansen bullet train model in July 2029, replacing the current N700S type.

The next S0 model will be more energy-efficient and offer a higher level of automation in speed control and stopping, said the operator, also known as JR Tokai.
