Big news is making waves! Today, we’re excited to share the name of the first Disney cruise ship that will sail from Japan: Disney Imagination.
Beginning in spring 2029, Disney Imagination will set sail from Tokyo, inviting guests aboard a ship powered by creativity and optimism, where families will be encouraged to embrace and experience the imagination that has always been at the heart of Disney storytelling like never before.
Disney Imagination will be the first ship in Disney Cruise Line Japan, a Disney-branded cruise business operated by Oriental Land Co., Ltd. (OLC), the company that owns and operates Tokyo Disney Resort under license from Disney. Building on a longstanding relationship that has created unforgettable Disney experiences for guests in Japan, Disney and OLC are bringing the magic of a Disney cruise vacation to families at sea.
Ariel Sets Sail on the Stern of the Disney Imagination
A signature tradition aboard every Disney Cruise Line ship is the character featured on the stern, and Disney Imagination is no exception.
For this ship, Ariel from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ The Little Mermaid will take her place on the stern alongside Sebastian and friends from beneath the sea. Using her beloved dinglehopper, Ariel will create the ship’s name in a playful tribute to her curiosity and adventurous spirit.
