A Cave Shrine, Moai & New Year in Kagoshima | Japan Road Trip 2/6
Day 3–4: New Year’s Eve on the Nichinan coast — Udo Shrine, built inside a sea cave, the seven moai of Sun Messe Nichinan, Miyazaki’s chicken nanban and spicy karamen, and a night in Tenmonkan, Kagoshima. Then New Year’s Day on the Satsuma Peninsula: a tunnel barely wider than the car, macaws that can add, Mt. Kaimon, Ryugu Shrine, Tokara horses and the birthplace of the spinning sōmen machine.
This is Part 2 of 6 of “Voyage to the Southern Seas” — 11 days and 2,140 km by car and ferry, from Shizuoka to Kyushu, Shikoku and Nara (filmed December 2023 – January 2024).
