I Found a Real-Life Fairytale in HoKKaido #삿포로 #오타루
Hi everyone, hope you’re having a lovely day. I’m visiting a cute canal town in Hokkaido called Otaru, and while wandering along the water, I found the most charming music box museum.
Otaru has such an interesting history — it used to be one of Hokkaido’s busiest port towns during the early 1900s, and many of the old warehouses and streets still carry that nostalgic atmosphere.
The Otaru Music Box Museum fits perfectly into that vibe. The building itself is over a century old, and inside you’ll find thousands of handcrafted music boxes, from tiny delicate ones to huge mechanical masterpieces. This shop has been around since 1912, and it’s known for preserving traditional craftsmanship while also creating modern designs.
Walking through the museum feels like stepping into a fairytale — soft melodies echo through the rooms, and every shelf is filled with sparkling glass, warm woodwork, and tiny details that make each piece feel special. It was such a lovely time, and I can’t wait to show you more.
I even ended up buying a music box. It was a bit pricey, but honestly, it felt one of a kind, and the sound is so calming it makes my soul feel relaxed every time I play it. If you’re ever near this area, definitely check out this music box shop and find something special for yourself.
