Japan’s operators agree disaster comms with Okinawa Maritime Self-Defense Force

NTT Docomo, Okinawa Cellular Telephone, SoftBank and Rakuten Mobile have signed an agreement with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force’s Okinawa Base Unit to support the rapid restoration of communications in Okinawa following disasters. The agreement establishes specific arrangements for cooperation during disasters, including the use of Maritime Self-Defense Force ships and vehicles to transport communications equipment, recovery equipment, supplies and personnel.
