I Thought This Was a Bus Tourโฆ Then We Drove Into Yokohama Harbor! ๐๐๐
Iโve taken a lot of sightseeing rides around Japan, but this one took a turn I definitely wasnโt expecting.
I was riding the SKY Duck Yokohama, sightseeing through one of my favorite cities in Japan, when suddenly the driver headed straight toward the water.
And kept going.
SPLASH! ๐๐ฆ
Turns out, this isnโt just a bus. The SKY Duck Yokohama is an amphibious sightseeing bus, designed to show you Yokohama from both the streets AND the harbor โ without ever changing vehicles.
The Yokohama amphibious bus project began in 2016, combining a city sightseeing tour with a cruise through the harbor. What started as an experimental tourism project eventually became a permanent Yokohama attraction.
And I completely understand why.
I already love exploring Yokohama, Minato Mirai, and the waterfront on foot, but thereโs something special about seeing that familiar skyline from the water.
Stillโฆ watching your bus driver point the bus toward the harbor and just keep driving takes a little getting used to. ๐
Apparently in Yokohama, sometimes the road ending doesnโt mean the tour does.
