A wedding business in Kurashiki City in Okayama Prefecture in western Japan has conducted a tour for three Australian companies in a bid to popularize wedding tourism.

Four people from a travel company, a wedding organizer and an event company were invited by the Japanese wedding business to visit Kurashiki City’s Bikan district. Their first stop was a bamboo garden located in a multi-use cultural facility where they observed a mock wedding ceremony with models playing the part of bride and groom.

Afterwards, they experienced Japanese culture when they sampled matcha and Japanese sweets in a tea ceremony in an adjoining Japanese teahouse.

Also, the participants saw the couple in wedding attire take a ride on a famous sightseeing boat on the Kurashiki River and took photos of the scene.

A female participant representing the Australian wedding organizer said an increasing number of couples are looking for unique experiences. She added, “And this is exactly what Kurashiki can offer.”

The Japanese company organized the tour in an effort to expand its wedding business among inbound visitors. Its president said that there is a big wave in inbound wedding tourism and the company wants to offer ceremonies with Kurashiki as the backdrop for many brides and grooms throughout the world.
