Japan’s Nakayama Steel Works announced plans to resume operations at its fire-affected hot-rolling plant in Osaka’s Taisho Ward by mid-October.
A fire on September 12 damaged power cables connected to heating equipment, halting hot-rolling production at the Funamachi factory. Subsequent inspections revealed minor damage to the main equipment. Replacement cables are secured, and safety verifications and test runs will take place after restoration work finishes.
Downstream processing lines remain operational, though production adjustments will occur as needed. Authorities and company officials continue investigating the cause of the fire to implement preventive measures.
