To prepare the dish, I opened the lid and took out the powdered soup with dried ingredients and the seasoning oil. The dried ingredients, such as garlic and green onions, were already inside.
First, add the powdered soup with dried ingredients.
Add hot water and wait 2 minutes. Note that this is shorter than regular cup noodles. While you wait, warm the seasoning oil on top of the lid.
After 2 minutes, open the lid and add the seasoning oil. A strong garlic aroma will fill the air.
Mix well and it’s done.
The noodles were thin and had a nice, clean bite. Although only two minutes had passed as per the instructions, they weren’t too hard. The soup was a smooth pork bone broth with a slightly strong salty flavor. The garlic flavor and aroma were quite prominent, but not so strong that it disrupted the balance of flavors, and it paired perfectly with the rich soup. The addition of toppings like wood ear mushrooms added a nice textural contrast.
The suggested retail price for ‘Super Cup 1.5x Abare Tonkotsu Ramen’ is 297 yen (excluding tax). On Amazon.co.jp, a pack of 12 is available for 3849 yen (including tax), which works out to about 321 yen per cup.
