One name, “Ho Mai Ho,” and many CEO positions.

A Starbucks drink sold in Vietnam might seem to have little in common with the conveyor belt sushi plates of Genki Sushi. The two brands originate from different markets, operate under different models, and function in Vietnam through separate legal entities.

But when tracing back from the brand to the businesses behind it, one name keeps popping up: Ho Mai Ho.

One of the first links in the chain is Global Tastes Joint Stock Company, a business established in October 2012 and part of the legal structure related to Viet Idea Food & Beverage Company Limited – a legal entity associated with Starbucks’ operations in Vietnam.

According to the latest business registration records, Global Flavor has two legal representatives. Ho Mai Ho, born in 1977, holds the position of General Director; Tan Kwang-Kin Norbert, an Australian national, holds the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors.

If the story ended there, Ho Mai Ho could simply be seen as a manager associated with Starbucks’ business operations in the Vietnamese market.

But more than a decade later, the names Ho Mai Ho and Tan Kwang-Kin Norbert reappeared together in new F&B legal entities. On August 6, 2024, MX Caterers (Vietnam) Co., Ltd. was established. In this company, Ho Mai Ho holds the position of General Director, while Tan Kwang-Kin Norbert is the Deputy General Director. Both are also the legal representatives.

Approximately six months later, on February 11, 2025, Genki Sushi (Vietnam) Co., Ltd. was established. The management team showed a striking familiarity. The General Director remained Ho Mai Ho, and the Deputy General Director was still Tan Kwang-Kin Norbert.

Thus, in all three F&B entities established at different times, Ho Mai Ho appeared in the same position: General Director.

Tan Kwang-Kin Norbert is also present throughout. At Global Flavors, he holds the position of Chairman of the Board. At MX Caterers Vietnam and Genki Sushi Vietnam, he also serves as Vice General Director. But this overlap in two high-level personnel is just the first step.

The “60-10-30” structure and substitutions spaced one day apart.

If we compare the business registration documents of Genki Sushi Vietnam and MX Caterers Vietnam side by side, the similarities are even more apparent at a deeper level: the individuals authorized to represent the capital stake.

At Genki Sushi Vietnam, the records prior to the change listed three authorized representatives. Tan Kwang-Kin Norbert represented a capital stake of VND 30.6228 billion ; Yip Yuk Hong represented VND 5.1038 billion ; and Siu Tak Wai represented VND 15.3114 billion . The total was VND 51.038 billion.

Based on the total capital represented by the three individuals, the respective shares are: Tan Kwang-Kin Norbert: 60% ; Yip Yuk Hong: 10% ; Siu Tak Wai: 30%.

It’s worth noting that a near-mirror image structure appears at MX Caterers Vietnam. In this company, Tan Kwang-Kin Norbert represents VND 30.1464 billion , Yip Yuk Hong represents VND 5.0244 billion , and Siu Tak Wai represents VND 15.0732 billion . The total is VND 50.244 billion. And the shareholdings are once again: 60% – 10% – 30%.

The two legal entities have different amounts of capital, but the three authorized representatives are the same, and the proportion of capital each representative holds is also the same.

Notably, Tan Kwang-Kin Norbert, Yip Yuk Hong, and Siu Tak Wai all used the contact address 18/F, Maxim’s Centre, No. 17 Cheung Shun Street, Cheung Sha Wan, Kowloon, Hong Kong in these records.

The similarities don’t stop there. By November 2025, the structure of capital representatives in both companies will change. At MX Caterers Vietnam, Kuok Cheong Seng will replace Siu Tak Wai to represent a capital stake of VND 15.0732 billion , equivalent to 30% of the aforementioned structure. The start date of representation is recorded as November 10, 2025 .

Just one day later , on November 11, 2025 , Kuok Cheong Seng also appeared in the authorized shareholder structure at Genki Sushi Vietnam, replacing the previous shareholder with a capital stake of VND 15.3114 billion , also equivalent to 30%. Tan remained at 60%, Yip at 10%, Siu left the 30% stake, and Kuok took his place.

Two businesses, two direct owners with different names, but the same trio representing their capital stake, the same 60-10-30 structure, and the same person replacing the 30% stake within exactly one day of each other. This is perhaps one of the most noteworthy connections in the corporate data behind Genki Sushi Vietnam.

And there are other points of intersection. New records show that Genki Sushi Vietnam and MX Caterers Vietnam are both registered with their headquarters at Floor 13, Phuong Long 2 Office Building, 16 Nguyen Truong To Street, Ho Chi Minh City.

Thus, MX Caterers Vietnam and Genki Sushi Vietnam share a common thread: the same General Director, the same Deputy General Director, the same group of representatives holding the same capital stake, the same 60-10-30 ratio, the same address for the representative group at Maxim’s Centre, the same headquarters in Vietnam, and almost simultaneously changing the representative holding the 30% capital stake.

These facts suggest a significant level of management and operational connection. However, they do not mean the two businesses have a direct ownership relationship . This is also what makes the story behind businesswoman Ho Mai Ho even more noteworthy.

“The Mai Ho Lake ecosystem” or a larger network?

Looking at the list of titles, it’s easy to arrive at an appealing term: “Ho Mai Ho’s F&B ecosystem.” But the ownership records reveal a more complex story.

Genki Sushi officially began its journey in Vietnam in June 2025 and currently has two stores. Genki Sushi officially began its journey in Vietnam in June 2025 and currently has two stores.

According to business registration records, the owner of Genki Sushi Vietnam is Japanese Dining Concepts (Asia) Limited, a legal entity registered in Hong Kong. Genki Sushi Vietnam’s initial registered capital was equivalent to US$2 million.

Meanwhile, the MX Caterers Vietnam records we obtained identify the owner as MX Caterers (Asia) Pte. Ltd., a legal entity with an address in Singapore .

This means, at least according to the available documents, that it is impossible to infer from Ho Mai Ho’s position as General Director that he is the ultimate owner of Genki Sushi or MX Caterers.

The prominent role of this businessman born in 1977 lies on another level: management . At Global Flavors, Ho Mai Ho was the General Director and worked alongside the Chairman of the Board, Tan Kwang-Kin Norbert. At MX Caterers Vietnam, Mr. Ho continued to hold the position of General Director, while Tan became the Deputy General Director.

And when Genki Sushi Vietnam was established, this duo continued to appear in the same two positions: General Director and Deputy General Director. Behind them were Tan, Yip, Siu, and Kuok – a group of people authorized to represent the capital stake with contact information at Maxim’s Centre – appearing almost simultaneously at Genki Sushi and MX Caterers. Therefore, the question of interest is perhaps no longer “How many businesses does Ho Mai Ho own?”, but rather: what role does Mr. Ho Mai Ho play in the broader F&B business structure in Vietnam?

This question becomes even more noteworthy when we go back to where the story began: Starbucks . Global Flavor – where Ho Mai Ho holds the position of CEO and Tan Kwang-Kin Norbert holds the position of Chairman of the Board – is part of the legal entity that operates Starbucks in Vietnam.

More than a decade after Global Flavors was established, Ho and Tan continued to appear together at MX Caterers and then Genki Sushi Vietnam. At Genki Sushi, the brand has changed. The direct owner has also changed. The business entity is certainly not the same entity behind Starbucks.

But some management loopholes repeat themselves. From Starbucks coffee to Genki conveyor belt sushi, tracing corporate records reveals that Ho Mai Ho is not simply associated with one F&B brand. He consistently appears at the executive level of various legal entities, alongside a group of international personnel with a noticeable degree of overlap.

And perhaps it is at this point that the story of Ho Mai Ho truly begins: not the story of a businessman owning how many brands, but the story of his position within a multi-brand, multi-legal entity F&B management network with connections stretching from Vietnam to Hong Kong and Singapore.
