The legend goes that two deities descended on the rocky shore of Oarai coast to protect people of this region. Right on the spot, awash by the Pacific waves, stands the Shrine Gate of Kamiiso. Seeing the glorious rays of rising sun penetrate the gate, you’ll sense why this place has been the site of worship for more than a thousand years.
