The design for the new Sagano Torokko Train cars, scheduled to be introduced in the spring of 2027, has been unveiled.
Each new train consists of one set of five cars (one locomotive and four passenger cars), with wider seat spacing and aisles designed to provide a more comfortable ride. The ceilings and sides are made of glass, allowing passengers to enjoy magnificent views in a spacious, open-air interior. To ensure the scenery takes center stage, the pillars and window frames are finished in black, creating a design that enhances the sense of immersion in the views of Hozu Gorge.
The logo and symbol mark build on the design of the traditional emblem while incorporating “autumn foliage,” “cherry blossoms,” “clear streams,” “tunnels as civil engineering heritage,” and “a circle of bamboo grass (bamboo grove)” to convey the charm of the railway line.
