SEGA confirms Crazy Taxi: World Tour is set for TGS 2026. Discover playable floor demo details, globetrotting campaign features, multiplayer modes, and 2027 platforms.

SEGA has officially confirmed that Crazy Taxi: World Tour will be playable at Tokyo Game Show 2026, running from September 17 through September 21 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan. The title sits inside the SEGA/Atlus booth, located in Hall 4-N01, where the classic arcade franchise expands into an open-world action-racer with both single-player and multiplayer modes. General public days run from September 19 to September 21.

Globetrotting campaign and cross-platform multiplayer

Developed and published by SEGA, Crazy Taxi: World Tour follows series protagonist Axel across five global cities as he tracks down the masked international crew that stole his taxi. Players navigate dense city traffic, pull off aerial stunts, drop off passengers, and take on odd-job challenges to earn cash along the way.

Alongside the story campaign, the game offers cross-platform multiplayer through two modes, Pickup Race and Cops ‘N’ Cabbies, letting drivers compete against each other worldwide. Both modes support Ranked Match, which uses automatic matchmaking, and Custom Match, which lets players set up private lobbies with adjustable rules.

From reveal to Tokyo Game Show

Crazy Taxi: World Tour was first revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase on June 8, 2026, with series creator Kenji Kanno returning to direct the project. The reveal trailer featured The Offspring’s track “All I Want,” echoing the original game’s soundtrack. Ahead of TGS 2026, SEGA ran a closed network test from September 11 to September 13, letting a limited group of players try the Pickup Race and Cops ‘n’ Cabbies modes ahead of launch. SEGA has also disclosed that generative AI tools were used as a support aid during development, though not for the game’s voice performers.

TGS 2026 booth activities and release platforms

SEGA’s booth features a dedicated Crazy Taxi: World Tour area with a hands-on demo, a life-size replica of Axel’s taxi for photo opportunities, and an arcade-style demo station playable with a racing wheel. Two stage events are scheduled: a Mission Challenge on September 17 and a Demo Playthrough on September 19, both streamed live on SEGA’s YouTube channel.

Crazy Taxi: World Tour launches in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox on PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. The game also includes a classic time-attack Arcade Mode along with a range of vehicle customization options.
