JINYA Ramen Bar appears to be getting closer to opening its doors at Magnolia Park.

A contractor was seen working Friday, Sept. 4, at the site of the new restaurant at 1025 Woodruff Road. The California-based ramen chain has also applied for a liquor license, according to legal records.

An official opening date has not been announced. JINYA’s website lists its Woodruff Road location as “coming soon.”

The restaurant is known for its Japanese-style ramen and signature broths, which are slowly simmered for more than 20 hours. JINYA offers six signature broths designed to create rich, full-bodied flavors, according to its website.

The restaurant’s owner did not immediately respond to a request for comment Friday.

JINYA Ramen Bar has locations across the United States and is known for dishes including ramen, sushi and other Japanese-inspired fare.

Restaurant founder Tomo Takahashi opened the first Jinya in Tokyo in 2000, according to the website. He moved to the United States in 2010 and saw the need for authentic ramen, opening the first Jinya Ramen Bar in California.

Jinya Ramen Bar is now a chain with a presence in 22 states. The Woodruff Road location will be South Carolina’s second, with the other Jinya located in Hilton Head Island.
