My Perfect Slow Day in Naha, Okinawa

Come along with me for a slow and relaxing day in Naha, Okinawa.

I start with lunch at one of my favorite curry shops in the city, Ryukyu Dry Curry Restaurant “gachimaya~”, before stopping by Shisa Pan MIA for a cute Okinawan sweet treat.

After that, I hop on my bike and ride over toward Naminoue Beach, where I relax with a smoothie at ニジイロカフェ / Nijiiro Cafe and pick up something for dinner.

Nothing too ambitious today — just good food, a bike ride, the beach, and enjoying Naha at my own pace.

  1. I'm glad you were feeling well while out and about! I was thinking while watching, that I'm sure it helps to be in a small comforting environment and talking to the camera as a bit of distraction. Gets you out of your head a bit. I have suffered from anxiety and panic a bit over the years and when you find something small to get relief, you latch on to it. Mine, is to vigorously rub the top of sides of my upper legs (it sounds strange but the sensation distracts me from the other parts of my body that are trying to misbehave). With your meditation and morning rituals and routine, having a comforting cafe and people you are familiar with seems to help you very much. Thank you for sharing with us today! You keep me company while I do my artwork!

  2. You rented a bike… so smart! What a great idea. And the pineapple bread looks beyond delicious and beautiful. What a fun, relaxing and just what I needed type of video. You make me happy. Cheers my friend

  3. This is exactly what I needed to see today. Just pure, unpretentious peace. I can almost smell the ocean and the sizzling food from here. Adding Naha to my bucket list.

  4. Glad to see you getting out and visiting old acquaintances and enjoying some favorite foods. Stay positive, Shinichi!

  5. I love that this helped you feel better. I don't know if journaling could help you but could write down what made you feel better and how you can achieve that when your anxiety is bad. I know it takes sometimes one hour at a time, I'm glad you had some time feeling a bit better, sending lots of well wishes.x

  9. Thank you guys, good to see you again. My late mother was born in Naha, came to USA about 1975. I've been to Okinawa on my first birthday, that's all.

  10. As a person who struggles with anxiety i know how you feel. I recommend you wear a lepidolite bracelet for your anxiety, or Amethyst is good too. Anyways take care of yourself Shinichi-san. Wish you well from Canada.
