Japan Rain

Canadian tourists are being cautioned about travel to Japan due to the potential impact of a typhoon which has already led to the cancellation of hundreds of flights in and out of the country, according to a report in The Japan Times.

The Canadian federal government issued a travel advisory due to Typhoon Saudel, which is expected to hit the southern part of the island nation by 27AUG.

The storm, according to Ottawa’s statement, is expected to bring violent winds, excessive rainfall, and could cause flash floods or landslides. Also potentially impacted are transportation, telecommunications, food and water, and more.

Canadians who are already in the region are urged to listen to local authorities and watch news and weather reports for any instructions.

Saudel, originally considered a tropical storm, was first upgraded to a severe tropical storm, then upgraded again to a Category 4 typhoon last week after rapid intensification.
