Naomi Osaka competed in her first Grand Slam, the Australian Open, in 2016, while in a turquoise-and-red Adidas kit that made a colorful statement on the court. Since then, her fashion has only gotten louder, more refined, and endlessly fantastical. Challenging tennis’ traditional wardrobe etiquette, Osaka has become known for her creative custom-made game-day looks—often which involve several ruffled layers, huge bows, on-the-court outfit changes, and sparkling accessories. Never forget her iconic Labubus (Billie Jean Bling and Arthur Flashe), bedazzled headphones, pearl-dotted bun, or her shimmery rosette-adorned braids.

“Sometimes people say athletes are in show business or entertainers or whatever. For me, Grand Slam walk-ons are the only time that I possibly feel like I’m an entertainer,” Osaka said in a press conference earlier this year.

Sequins and tutus regularly play a part in her multi-layer ensembles, and bridal wear is often an inspiration for her. At the 2026 Australian Open in January, Osaka strutted onto the court in an icy-white wide-brim hat with a transparent veil that both covered her face and fell behind her in a long train; the piece was courtesy of couturier Robert Wun. And this past June, the athlete made her arrival at the Wimbledon Championships in a crisp white kimono-style look inspired by Japanese bridal dress, created by Tokyo-based independent designer Hana Yagi.

“I am absolutely treating every grand slam like it’s the MET gala,” the tennis pro wrote on Threads in 2025. And she meant it!

Ahead—and as we look forward to the US Open—take a look at all of Osaka’s best Grand Slam looks of all time.

In a white kimono look embroidered all over with cherry blossoms and cranes, and cinched by an obi featuring chunky ropes tied into elaborate knots and bows. Created by Tokyo-based independent designer Hana Yagi and inspired by Japanese ceremonial dress, the ensemble was a meaningful, high-fashion take on Wimbledon’s strict all-white dress code.

In a wide-brim hat with a long, transparent white veil hiding her face, and a matching umbrella in one hand. Each piece was adorned with a single snow-white butterfly—a signature of the artist behind the design: couturier Robert Wun.

As for the rest of her look? A blue-green Nike minidress with aquatic-inspired ruffles was expertly layered over a white pleated skirt and matching flowy pleated pants. The jellyfish-inspired look was a tribute to Osaka’s daughter and her love for the animal.
