A new restaurant and sushi bar has opened with aspirations of introducing Clarendon to a Japanese-inspired music program.
Oasis: The Listening Bar opened its doors at 2940 Clarendon Blvd earlier this month, filling a vacancy left by Cava Mezze. Modeled after Japanese “listening bars,” the restaurant plans to host frequent live performances and DJ nights.
“Oasis was born from a simple-yet-powerful idea: that good music, great food and warm friendship create something truly special,” co-founder Jaturon Srirote said in a release.
The latest project by Sisters Group — the team behind the Northern Virginia restaurant chain Sisters Thai — is currently soft opening with a limited menu as it awaits a liquor license.
It’s inspired by HiFi bars in Japan
The restaurant boasts instruments for live music, a sound system and vinyl records lining the walls, along with Hawaiian and desert-inspired decor.
Owners plan to host musicians and DJs to perform genres like Japanese jazz, neo-soul, Thai pop and K-pop. The first DJ night is planned tomorrow (Friday) night.
“We’ve poured our passion for audiophile-level sound and handcrafted cuisine into every detail, creating a space where guests can truly listen, unwind and connect,” Srirote said.
The full bar and menu debuts Aug. 21
The menu features grilled meat skewers, fried appetizers, seafood entrees and an expansive sushi selection by master sushi chef Jose Ventura.
Six specialty rolls include the “Oasis” with lump crab, avocado, cucumber, shrimp and lobster, as well as the “Sakura,” filled with bluefin tuna, salmon and yellowtail.
An upcoming beverage program includes Japanese-inspired cocktails, whisky and sake flights, and JoyBoy, the Sister Group’s locally made craft beer.
There’s a soft opening discount
Oasis is offering a 20% discount until Aug. 21.
The restaurant has seating for 100 guests, including a 40-seat sushi bar, with seating for 60 people on an outdoor patio.
Hours are 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. and 5-10 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, and 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. and 5-11 p.m., Friday and Saturday.
