Thousands of passengers were stranded overnight at Narita Airport after record rainfall flooded roads and halted rail services. Around 7,000 travellers spent the night inside terminals as staff handed out sleeping bags, blankets and supplies. The flooding in Chiba has killed at least eight people, with transport links gradually reopening on August 14.
