I moved away from Japan for Thailand 10 years ago, but on this trip I went back to one of my old haunts — Ocean Deep, just outside the West Exit of Chiba Station.

I used to drink here 10–20 years ago, one of my favourite party places to meet with friends, so it was great to drop in again, meet the new owner and meet his family and friends.

It was a quiet Sunday night, but they happened to be running a lucky-draw campaign…and for once, I actually won something: a free beer. 🍺

Funny how some places can instantly take you back.
