We traveled through Okinawa, Japan, and it quickly felt like one of the most unique destinations we’ve visited in the country. Known for its tropical beaches, clear blue water, laid-back atmosphere, and distinct island culture, Okinawa offers a completely different experience from cities like Tokyo, Osaka, or Fukuoka. If you’re planning a Japan trip and looking for an Okinawa travel guide, this island is worth adding to your itinerary for its mix of beautiful coastlines, local food, scenic drives, and easy island-hopping adventures.

In this Okinawa travel vlog, we started in Naha and stayed at Hotel Anteroom Naha before exploring Kokusai Dori, one of the city’s liveliest shopping and food streets. Along the way, we tried casual Japanese favorites like Sushiro and Coco Ichibanya, sampled Okinawan sata andagi from Nansei, and visited Tonkatsu Koyaji Naha Store for a comforting tonkatsu meal. From local Okinawan snacks to familiar Japanese restaurants, this Okinawa food tour includes a mix of affordable eats, popular favorites, and easy food stops to add to your own trip.

Beyond the food, we visited some of the best things to do in Okinawa, including Churaumi Aquarium, American Village, and Cape Manzamo. One of the biggest highlights was taking a trip to Tokashiki Island, where we spent time at Aharen Beach, explored the coastline, and joined an island-hopping experience to a beautiful uninhabited island surrounded by turquoise water. From one of Japan’s most famous aquariums to tropical beaches and dramatic seaside views, this Okinawa travel video captures why the island feels so different from mainland Japanβ€”and why it is one of the best destinations for travelers looking for beaches, nature, food, and a slower side of Japan.
