In your late twenties, it gets harder and harder to see your friends, especially when you’re spread all around the world. That’s why I was stoked to have my boys Jason and Nathan take the time to visit me in Japan. Together in my camper van, we explored many places in Kyushu I haven’t seen yet, like the extremely underrated Amakusa archipelago, soaking in onsens in Beppu, finding lowkey shrines in Kagoshima, and also revisiting one of my favourite national parks, Aso-Kuju. These kinds of moments are rare in as you get older, so that’s why I’m so glad.. the Japan trip made it out of the group chat!

My thoughts go out to everyone affected by the 7.1 earthquake that hit Kumamoto yesterday… it’s one of my favourite prefectures and makes up a big part of this video, so I hope everyone is safe and the damage was kept to a minimum 😔🙏🏼

One of the reasons Kyushu is the way it is (Aso, Aira calderas, Beppu, Yufuin…) is its location on the plate tectonics map. Unfortunately that also comes with regular eruptions and earthquakes. It's not fair that Kumamoto would get 2 large ones so close together though… “Shou ga nai, desu ne." My thoughts are with the brave, friendly people of Kumamoto affected by the nasty 7.1 quake
I just got back from Kyushu and did a lot of the same things you did. Such an incredible trip. Yufin though was packed 🙁 Hearing about the earthquake in Kumamoto was crazy—it's surreal knowing I was just there. Hoping everyone is okay.
