The Kiwi driver delivered a tribute to Blais with a double podium at the Tokyo E-Prix this last weekend. While he finished third at the Tokyo Street Circuit in Round 14 on Saturday, he gained one position and finished second in Round 15 on Sunday.

In Round 14, Nick Cassidy started from the seventh position and managed to finish third, behind winner Dan Ticktum of Cupra Kiro and first runner-up Jake Dennis of Andretti on a wet track. He performed even better in Round 15 where he claimed second place after starting from 13th position on the grid. Speaking after his second consecutive podium on day three of the Tokyo E-Prix, Cassidy said, “To everyone at Citroen Racing, to the family at Stellantis Motorsport, they put a lot of faith in me to bring me to this programme and they have been saying all year that they’ve got big plans and we’re excited for the future.”“We’ve been through some really tough times, you know in the last few weeks, in the last few months as well. And so this weekend to have amazing results is really special. Thanks to all of them for their work. And then, you know, this place – Tokyo – it’s meant so much to me to build my career here over the years. I have a lot of friends here this weekend, a lot of Japanese fans…supporting me which means a lot,” he added.

Nick Cassidy pointed upwards while getting emotional on the podium as he received the trophy at the Tokyo E-Prix for finishing third in Round 14. This was a heartwarming tribute to Citroen Racing team principal Cyril Blais who died this month. He was just 46. Cassidy said after the Round 14 race, “To be honest, ending on the podium tonight is super tough, but it’s amazing. The team has done a really good job with the car that they’ve given me since Free Practice 1. They gave me a great strategy and a great car. Everyone’s hurting right now, but I’m glad we could do our best in conditions like today.” And he did his best the next day by finishing second in Round 15. A video of Cassidy receiving the trophy on the podium was shared on Formula E’s Instagram account with the caption: “That was for you, Cyril.”Reacting to the post, a fan said, “Good job Nick…！Cyril will be proud.” Another commented: “Cyril will be proud up there. Fully deserved podium by Nick and the entire team.” One more comment read: “I bet he smiles down at you guys and feels proud. Amazing effort. Congratulations.”Jake Dennis also took to his Instagram Stories to hail Cassidy for his podium. “Unreal drive. You did him proud today,” he wrote. The drivers will now return to the track in the GEN3 Evo one last time at the season 12 grand finale. The London E-Prix is scheduled on August 15 and 16.
