-Rajasthan Tourism has intensified its outreach to the Japanese travel market by organising a tourism roadshow in Tokyo to promote the state’s heritage, culture, luxury hospitality and diverse tourism offerings.The event, titled ‘Royal Rajasthan: Celebrating India’s Heritage, Culture and Tourism’, was organised by the Embassy of India in Tokyo in collaboration with the Rajasthan Tourism Department. It brought together Japanese tour operators, travel companies and tourism stakeholders to explore opportunities for increasing visitor arrivals from Japan.In a video message, Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Diya Kumari invited Japanese travellers to explore the state’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites, forts, palaces, wildlife reserves, spiritual destinations and traditional hospitality.India’s Ambassador to Japan, Nagma Mohamed Mallick, inaugurated the programme, which also featured a destination film showcasing Rajasthan’s cultural heritage, natural landscapes and tourism experiences.Anand Tripathi, Senior Additional Director, Rajasthan Tourism, presented the state’s tourism portfolio, highlighting luxury hospitality, desert tourism, wildlife experiences, destination weddings, Buddhist heritage, rural tourism, adventure activities, wellness tourism, MICE infrastructure and sustainable tourism initiatives.He also outlined the Rajasthan government’s policy measures to promote tourism investment, including the Rajasthan Tourism Unit Policy 2024, industry status for tourism, investment incentives, heritage conservation initiatives, promotion of homestays and infrastructure development.Officials highlighted that Rajasthan is home to nine UNESCO World Heritage Sites, internationally recognised heritage hotels and the Palace on Wheels luxury train. The state’s Buddhist tourism circuit was also showcased in response to growing interest among Japanese travellers seeking Buddhist heritage destinations.Representatives from leading Japanese travel companies, including BS Travel Service Co. Ltd. (Ashoka Tours) and World Air-Sea Service Co. Ltd., shared their experiences of promoting Rajasthan in Japan. They noted increasing demand for customised itineraries focused on the state’s heritage, culture and luxury travel experiences.Representatives from Rajasthan’s tourism and hospitality industry, including hotel and tour operator associations, participated virtually in the event to engage with Japanese travel trade partners.The roadshow concluded with a Kalbelia folk dance performance, followed by business networking sessions between Indian and Japanese tourism stakeholders. The interactions were aimed at strengthening tourism partnerships, enhancing travel collaborations and increasing visitor exchanges between Japan and Rajasthan.
