@ 2:57 I wanted to go up to the café but was having bad pain in both knees at the time, so we had to save it for another time. (Both knees are better now). Tomonoura has some adorable community cats; there's one that likes to hang out near the ice cream parlor in the port and a black one that hangs out near the sea wall near that café. There was a decades-long plan to put in a large bridge, some landfill, and a car park for traffic reasons, but locals fought it as it would destroy the ambience of the town. They sued and won and the project was cancelled — fortunately.
I'm 61. Wish I could live in this place. ❤🇯🇵

江戸時代からの風景を残したい派と埋め立て工事で保証金をもらいたい派に別れていたけど､
｢崖の上のポニョ｣の舞台になったことで景観保全側が勝った｡

Hi Mei, thanks for the nice spot you often show us; for someone like me, who loves quiet and slow paced trip, there are so many places to see in Japan… In late september I will do a 2 weeks Tohoku trip, slow paced in non turistic places far from the crowd, can't wait to be there.
I hope next year i could afford another trip in Hiroshima, Yamaguchi and Shimane region (but outside Hiroshima city I saw years ago) somethink like Takehara, Iwakuni, Yamaguchi, Izumo-Matsue, places away from the mass tourism.

Here in Venezuela all small places, or close to nature are always full of loud music so it was very refreshing to see a calm space with clear nature sounds.
