The visit is aimed at exploring investment opportunities across priority sectors including manufacturing, renewable energy, green hydrogen, automobiles, food processing, Global Capability Centres (GCCs), tourism and skill development, while strengthening economic and technology partnerships between Uttar Pradesh and Japan.

Ahead of the visit, a 12-member delegation from Yamanashi Prefecture, led by Narendra Upadhyay, Advisor to the Prefectural Government, met officials at Invest UP in Lucknow to finalise the itinerary and business engagement plan. The visit follows Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s recent outreach to Japan and is expected to build on discussions held during that tour.

The preparatory meeting was chaired by Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner (IIDC) Deepak Kumar and attended by Invest UP CEO Vijay Kiran Anand and Additional CEO Shashank Chaudhary.

According to officials, the August programme will feature government-to-business (G2B) and business-to-business (B2B) meetings involving senior state officials, Japanese companies and industry stakeholders. The discussions will focus on facilitating investments in manufacturing, clean energy, green hydrogen, GCCs, automotive, food processing, and workforce collaboration.

Officials said the visit could culminate in the signing of fresh memorandums of understanding (MoUs), issuance of Letters of Comfort (LoCs) and land allotments for proposed investment projects in the state.

As part of the preparatory engagements, the Yamanashi delegation also met Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh to discuss opportunities for expanding tourism and cultural cooperation. The discussions covered tourism infrastructure development, improved connectivity, heritage conservation, and potential investments in hospitality and wellness tourism.
