KADENA AIR BASE, OKINAWA — The Kadena Food Pantry is honored to recognize the generosity of the Okinawa Enlisted Spouses Club (OESC), whose June Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) initiative provided $1,000 in support to help restock the pantry during one of its busiest times of the year.
Through the donation of five $200 commissary gift cards, OESC has helped ensure the pantry can continue providing food assistance to military families throughout the summer months. As school lets out, many families experience an increase in grocery expenses with children home for the day, making community resources like the Kadena Food Pantry even more essential.
The Kadena Food Pantry exists because of the generosity of our military community. Every item on our shelves has been donated, and every family we serve is supported by individuals and organizations who believe that no one in our community should have to face food insecurity alone. While donations are needed year-round, the summer months often bring a greater demand for assistance, making this contribution especially impactful.
The Okinawa Enlisted Spouses Club has long demonstrated its commitment to serving our military community through volunteerism, outreach, and acts of kindness. Their generous donation reflects the shared mission of both our organizations—to care for our neighbors, strengthen our military community, and ensure families have the support they need during challenging times.

As the need for food assistance continues, the Kadena Food Pantry invites the community to get involved. Volunteers are the heart of our operation, helping us receive donations, organize inventory, stock shelves, and serve families with dignity and compassion. Anyone interested in volunteering can sign up for available shifts through the Kadena Food Pantry Facebook page.
