It is believed that the dog had ingested cannabis that had been discarded by hikers on the mountain trail.
The ingestion caused Tokyo to lose the ability to use her legs or hold herself up, and caused her to lose consciousness several times.
Tokyo’s owner, Christina Bluhme – a dog trainer from Surrey – said there was “simply no way I could have got her safely off the mountain”.
“Carrying a 25kg Labrador down Ben Nevis was impossible on my own, and their kindness, professionalism and calm support meant everything,” she said, describing the assistance of the Lochaber Mountain Rescue team.

Bluhme said Tokyo was “critically ill after ingesting what the vets believe was cannabis left on the trail”.
She described the experience as “one of the most frightening days I’ve ever experienced”, adding: “I genuinely thought I was going to lose her”.
The Mountain Rescue service has since shared an update on Tokyo’s condition.
It said she had received care from Crown Vets and was able to make a full recovery the following day.

Bluhme praised the work of the Mountain Rescue team and the staff of Crown Vets, saying: “We feel incredibly lucky.
“From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone at Lochaber Mountain Rescue and to the veterinary team who cared for Tokyo.
“You were there when we needed you most, and I will never forget your compassion and dedication.
“A little reminder to fellow dog owners: please be aware that discarded drugs and other toxic substances can sometimes be found even in the most beautiful outdoor places.
“It was something I never imagined we would encounter.”

A spokesperson for Lochaber Mountain Rescue added: “Following a request to assist a collapsed dog on Sunday, we’re pleased to confirm that Tokyo has made a full recovery, having been cared for at Crown Vets!
“It’s now suspected that Tokyo, a usually very fit and active working dog, had ingested something that made her critically unwell.
“Many thanks to Crown Vets for their support, and to Tokyo’s owner for the update and photos.”
