CoinDesk reports:
Japan’s cryptocurrency exchange SBI VC Trade stated that, as the yen continues to weaken, an increasing number of Japanese companies are adding Bitcoin and XRP to their corporate cash reserves to diversify cash holding risks. The company also disclosed that the total number of registered accounts on its VCTRADE and BITPOINT platforms has surpassed 2 million.
Number of accounts rises to 2 million
The announcement shows that this number has doubled compared to approximately 1 million in 2025. After merging with its affiliate BitPoint Japan in April 2026, SBI VC Trade further expanded its account base.
The company stated that it plans to complete the full integration of both brands by the end of December 2026 to reduce costs and standardize service offerings.

Corporate client demand is increasing
The cryptocurrency platform under SBI Holdings stated that usage of its enterprise service, SBIVC for Prime, is growing. One driving factor is companies seeking to diversify their reserve holdings away from a sole cash allocation amid the yen’s weakness.
The company also noted that some businesses distribute Bitcoin or XRP to shareholders through shareholder reward programs, which has driven demand for these assets.
Stablecoins have become another growth driver.
In addition to Bitcoin and XRP, stablecoins are driving adoption in the Japanese market. SBI VC Trade launched USDC in March 2025 and added Ripple’s USD-backed stablecoin RLUSD and the yen-pegged JPYSC in June 2026.
The company has also launched lending services based on stablecoins. SBI VC Trade describes JPYSC as Japan’s first yen-backed stablecoin built on a trust structure.
