Bayside Walk along Sakurajima Lava Trail | Kagoshima, Japan

An early morning walk along the coastal Nagisa Lava Trail on Sakurajima, an active volcanic island in Kagoshima, Japan. The trail follows the water’s edge, where lava the lava stopped from the 1914 Taisho eruption. It is also home to many cats, I saw at least 10 when I passed through before my trip to Yakushima. Unfortunately this morning they were still asleep, but we can see their feeding bowls, evidence that they have many local friends. There was also a naval submarine in the water between the island and the city of Kagoshima on the mainland. The volcano on in the middle of the island is still active has small eruptions throughout the day, with more dramatic eruptions from time to time.

If you are planning on visiting, keep in mind that I take efforts to avoid crowds and I also try to present areas I visit in a favorable light by choosing where to point the camera.

All sights and sounds were captured by me on location.

  1. Never realised Japan is such a stunning country till I started watching your videos .. unfortunately everyone seems to want to visit atm …but unfortunately a minority treat this great country with the same lack of respect as they do in western countries ..litter dropping and general lack of respect for the environment …but I’m aware Japan relies on tourism to boost the economy …..you have a excellent talent in sharing the most beautiful locations that this country as to offer …for that I have the upmost respect and gratitude..thank you my friend 🙏🏻

  2. Early morning bliss though tampered by the sadness of all the dying trees. Can you tell what is the omnipresent hum heard.: volcano, city? Thanks, it is nonetheless a beautiful walk and area.

  3. Wow!! This was great! Beautiful views!! ( it looked like at times during the video there were more clouds over the volcano, were the clouds from the small eruptions? and also, was that bright red pavilion actually the "evacuation shelter" that was mentioned on that sign?) Fascinating and beautiful, thank you for sharing!! 🙏❤💚
