NAGOYA – A Disney-themed bullet train began running Friday on the Tokaido Shinkansen Line connecting Tokyo and Shin-Osaka stations to mark Tokyo DisneySea’s 25th anniversary, for a limited-time service through mid-March next year.
The 16-car N700A set features a “jubilee blue” livery to celebrate the theme park’s anniversary, adorned with various Disney characters. The seat headrest covers feature Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
The special train, a collaboration between Central Japan Railway Co. and Tokyo DisneySea operator Oriental Land Co., will mainly run on the limited-stop Hikari and all-stops Kodama services on the bullet train line.
At a media preview in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture, earlier this week, Mickey Mouse appeared in a 25th anniversary costume while JR Central President Shunsuke Niwa said he hopes passengers will enjoy the journey itself as a special experience.
