On June 17, commencing at 4:00 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Ms. ERI Arfiya, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call by a delegation of Lao Party officials visiting Japan under the “Training Program on Leadership Enhancement for Leaders to Bring Socio-economic Development,” organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The delegation was led by H.E. Mr. Soukphachanh SILAPHET, Chaiman of Public Administration Committee of Bokeo Province.


At the outset, Parliamentary Vice-Minister ERI welcomed the delegation and expressed her intention to further develop the bilateral relationship, which had been elevated to a “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership” on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and the Laos in 2025, across a wide range of fields including human resource development, economics, and security.
Chairman Soukphachanh expressed his appreciation for Japan’s support for the Laos, including through this training program, and stated his intention to apply the knowledge gained through this training to public administration and policy formulation in the Laos, and to further promote bilateral relations in their respective fields of responsibility.

This program aims to promote mutual understanding between Japan and the Laos through training visits to Japan by Lao government leaders, and thereby further advance the “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership” between the two countries. The program, held from June 8 to June 17, covered Japan’s politics, public administration, tourism policy, and other subjects.
