Courtyard Okinawa Brings New Beachfront Stay to Nago
Marriott International has announced the opening of Courtyard Okinawa, marking the brand’s first property in Okinawa Prefecture. Located in Nago on Okinawa’s northern coast, the 170-room beachfront resort expands Marriott’s presence in one of Japan’s most visited island destinations.
Situated along Kise Beach overlooking Nago Bay, the hotel offers direct access to the coastline and is approximately 72 kilometres from Naha International Airport.
Okinawa is known for its distinct Ryukyuan heritage, marine landscapes and natural attractions, including the UNESCO-listed Yambaru National Park. The destination attracts both domestic and international visitors seeking cultural experiences, outdoor activities and beach holidays.
Cristiano Rinaldi
Commenting on the opening, Cristiano Rinaldi, Chief Lodging Product and Services Officer, Asia Pacific excluding China, Marriott International, said the launch brings the Courtyard by Marriott brand to Okinawa for the first time and strengthens the company’s presence in the region.
Designed by Japanese architectural firm Kume Sekkei, the hotel incorporates elements inspired by Okinawa’s coastline, blending contemporary interiors with views of the surrounding sea and mountains. Large windows and open spaces have been used throughout the property to maximise natural light and connect guests with the outdoor environment.
Accommodation

The hotel offers 170 guestrooms and suites, including Ocean View and Mountain View categories. Many rooms are designed to accommodate families and small groups, while suites provide additional living space and work areas. Selected suites also feature bunk beds for family travellers.
Dining
Guests can dine at Shioka, the hotel’s all-day dining venue, which serves Okinawan and international cuisine. The property also includes a lounge and bar offering refreshments and locally inspired cocktails with views across the bay.
Wellness and Recreation
The resort provides a range of leisure facilities, including the Marine Club Berry, where guests can participate in activities such as snorkelling, diving, paddleboarding and other water sports.
Additional facilities include a 24-hour fitness centre and the Treehouse Kids’ Club, which offers books, educational activities and indoor play areas for younger guests.
Meetings and Events
The hotel’s event venue, Coral, is located on the tenth floor and offers 210 square metres of event space with panoramic ocean views. The venue is equipped for meetings, private functions and social gatherings.
The resort also features a chapel for wedding ceremonies, with reception facilities and catering services available for celebrations.
