Minor Hotels will open the premium lifestyle hotel “Avani Kyoto” (tentative name) in fiscal year 2029.
The hotel will be located inside a building currently under development as the “Kyoto Shimbun Building Redevelopment Project” (tentative name), a project promoted by Taisei Corporation, Heiwa Real Estate, and MINOR INTERNATIONAL on land owned by Kyoto Shimbun Holdings.
The complex will consist of a renovated north wing with 8 floors above ground and 2 floors below ground, and a newly constructed south wing with 5 floors above ground and 1 floor below ground, offering approximately 240 guest rooms in total. Public spaces such as a restaurant and lobby lounge will be created by utilizing the former rotary printing press room.
The “Avani” brand, developed by Minor Hotels in more than 40 properties across 24 countries worldwide and targeting Millennial and Generation Z travelers, will be entering the Japanese market for the first time with this Kyoto property.
The hotel will have direct access to Kyoto Municipal Subway Karasuma Line’s Marutamachi Station. Kyoto Gyoen National Garden and Nijo-jo Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and former imperial villa in Kyoto, are also within walking distance.
