The Ride That Changed Everything | Solo Motorcycle Travel Film

A solo motorcycle travel documentary film through Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan — the chapter where the journey started to change.

Project 47 continued across Kyushu, but this ride became more than another prefecture on the map. What began as a search for roads, camps, and volcanic landscapes slowly became something more personal: the first time the journey started showing me what it was really about.

Over five days on the motorcycle, the road led through remote mountain passes, volcanic riding roads, island crossings, cold camps, unexpected encounters, and one terrifying close call that could have ended very differently.

This chapter is about riding alone, but also about discovering that solo travel does not always mean being alone. It became a turning point in Project 47 — not because of one destination, but because of the people, the roads, the mistakes, and the moments that stayed with me after the ride was over.

This is not a Kumamoto travel guide. It is a solo motorcycle journey through Kyushu — one rider, one bike, and the experience of moving through Japan one road at a time.

THE JOURNEY:

00:00 — Entering the Land of Fire
02:55 — The Hardest Road So Far
07:26 — A Gift from a Stranger
11:33 — Riding the Volcanic Rim
17:04 — A Stop Beneath the Falls
19:00 — Trying Something New
21:19 — Into the City
22:38 — A Cave in the Mountains
27:45 — Why I Love Japan
33:12 — The Great Ramen Hunt
44:57 — A Terrifying Close Call
53:40 — Finding the Waterfall

  1. Wow what a great video. I love documentaries and this is one of the best documentary videos I've seen on YouTube. I also love motorcycles and travel, so this video is very relevant to my interests of documentary, motorcycle, and travel. Thank you for making such a great motorcycle travel documentary. I hope that YouTube recommends me other videos that are similar to this that could be a documentary or have motorcycles or travel.
