Rosewood has unveiled plans to add a landmark addition to its stable of ultra-luxury properties with an urban debut in Tokyo, Japan. Rosewood Tokyo will be positioned in Tokyo’s Roppongi district, an emerging international hub for contemporary art, modern architecture and refined urban living.

The hotel will feature approximately 200 guestrooms and suites, including expansive three-bedroom accommodations, alongside a collection of destination-led dining and bar concepts inspired by Tokyo’s renowned culinary culture. Guests will also have access to Rosewood’s signature Manor Club, Asaya wellbeing concept, including an indoor pool, fitness and yoga facilities, and a variety of event spaces including a grand ballroom designed for international gatherings and cultural exchange.

“We are excited to introduce Rosewood Tokyo, a strategic expansion that reinforces our commitment in Japan” said Sonia Cheng, Chief Executive Officer of Rosewood Hotel Group. “Guided by our A Sense of Place philosophy, Rosewood Tokyo will celebrate the city’s cultural depth while delivering distinctive, locally rooted experiences in one of the world’s most influential global capitals.”

“We are delighted to welcome Rosewood to Tokyo through this partnership, which fulfills Rosewood’s long-held goal of expanding into the city,” said Shingo Tsuji, President and CEO of Mori Building. Kojun Nishima, President of Sumitomo Realty & Development Co., Ltd., commented: “We are confident that Rosewood’s distinctive vision and legendary hospitality will help transform the project into a one-of-a-kind global destination that captivates the world.”

Rosewood says the property represents a “defining moment in the brand’s expansion across Asia Pacific,” complementing Rosewood Miyakojima which opened in March 2025.

Rosewood Tokyo will anchor the Roppongi 5-Chome mixed-use development, one of the city’s most ambitious new destinations.

Directly connected to Roppongi Subway Station, the development will integrate hospitality, residences, retail, and office space into a singular architectural vision.

“This visionary project will mark Rosewood’s first hotel in Tokyo and its first urban property in Japan,” the Group said. Rosewood Tokyo will occupy a premier position within one of the tallest buildings in Japan, “seamlessly blending culture, craftsmanship, and creativity, Roppongi-Chome is set to become a new icon for Japan’s capital.”

Rosewood’s strategic expansion globally includes the upcoming openings of Rosewood Seoul, Rosewood Shenzhen, Rosewood Ranfaru in the Maldives, Rosewood Calistoga in California’s Napa Valley, and Rosewood Rome. An opening date has not been set, with Rosewood’s website referring to the hotel as a ‘Future Opening’.
