◇ Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters vs. Chunichi “Nippon Life Interleague Series 2026,” Game 3 (May 14th, ES CON FIELD)

Hokkaido Nippon-Ham ‘s Yuki Nomura hit a go-ahead RBI single.

Nomura started the game as the cleanup hitter and first first baseman. In the bottom of the first inning, leadoff hitter Shun Mizutani got on base with hit, and then advanced to third base on sacrifice bunt and infield grounder. With two outs and a runner on third, Nomura made contact with breaking ball thrown by opposing pitcher Wakui Hideaki on a 3-1 count, just off the end of his bat. The ball went through the gap between second base and shortstop, giving his team the lead.

Nomura had also hit a timely RBI in the previous game, and is in good form for June with a monthly batting average of .344 (as of before the game). He brought the much-needed first run to the team, which is aiming for its 10th consecutive win, with his bat as the cleanup hitter.
