Speedy mare Tokyo Rose (Captaintreacherous) made amends from her previous efforts with a stylish harness racing win in the Listed Captains Mistress Ladyship Stakes at Menangle on Saturday evening.

Not long ago Tokyo Rose ran 1.49.2 winning at Menangle but at her two previous starts she had finished well down the track in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes and a Ladyship Stakes event.
Not surprisingly she was easy in the betting as Steno was installed a firm favourite.
In a furious battle for the lead early, Sugar Pie Honey surrendered the lead to Tokyo Rose to then take back the lead with Tokyo Rose racing tractably poised right behind. Lux Aeterna was three back on the rails but Steno from her wide barrier had no option but to ease back to the rear of the field.
TOKYO ROSE 13 JUN REPLAY
Steno unleashed a strong run in the back straight but the leader ran a third quarter of 28.1 seconds and then in the final quarter a fast 26.9 seconds which gave little chance to those trying to make up ground from well behind.
Tokyo Rose quickly got the better of Sugar Pie Honey who didn’t offer much resistance and it was left to Missaudacious to chase and finish just over three metres from the winner with Steno showing lots of fight in third just over two metres away. Tokyo Rose’s overall time was 1.50.1.
Tokyo Rose’s win completed a double for driver Cameron Hart as earlier in the evening he scored with Im The Falcon (Bettors Delight). It was also a double for trainer Jason Grimson and to add to the winning flavour, Grimson trained and drove his only two runners at Albion Park with wins on Minos (Bettors Delight) and then with Bettorlightem Up (Bettors Delight).
