TOKYO (TR) – A portion of the corpse of a male executive from an IT company who went missing last year has been found in the mountains of Shizuoka Prefecture, police said last week, reports the Sankei Shimbun (June 5).

On May 29, police searching in Izu City, Shizuoka found the torso of Takeshi Kamiyama, an executive at Linux Japan in Tokyo’s Minato Ward, stuffed inside a duffle bag in a forest in the Yugasahima area.

On September 28, Kamiyama, then 54, went missing. An investigation was launched after a female acquaintance of his grew concerned and consulted with authorities on October 10.

In April, police accused Katsuya Mizuguchi, the 49-year-old president of Linux Japan, of removing the body of Kamiyama, who served on the company’s board, from the company’s office, where multiple bloodstains were found and disposing of it sometime between October 5 and 6 of last year.

In commenting on allegations of abandoning a corpse, Mizuguchi said, “I didn’t do it.”

Police had been searching areas around the Otaru Pass and Sagami Lake, located on the border of Tokyo and Kanagawa prefectures, where Mizuguchi may have visited around the time of Kamiyama’s disappearance.

Tokyo police are now investigating the circumstances surrounding Kamiyama’s death.
