Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty called on Japanese travel agencies and tour operators to expand tourism programs to Egypt and capitalize on recent developments in the country’s tourism sector and infrastructure, as well as increased direct flights between Cairo and Tokyo.
The minister’s remarks came during a meeting held on Friday 5/62026, as part of Abdelatty’s visit to Japan, with chairman of the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA) Hiroyuki Takahashi, and representatives of major Japanese tourism companies.
The talks focused on ways to increase the number of Japanese visitors to Egypt and strengthen cooperation in the tourism sector.

Abdelatty praised JATA’s role in promoting Egypt as a tourist destination and said the Japanese market remains a priority for Egypt’s tourism strategy.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdelatty also confirmed Egypt’s participation in the 2026 Japan Tourism Fair, as part of its efforts to promote its tourism offerings.
Abdelatty highlighted the momentum generated by the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, describing it as one of the world’s most prominent cultural landmarks and a successful model of Egyptian-Japanese cooperation.
